Entry: Feels like a lifetime... Thursday, July 28, 2005

Wow, have I ever been busy!  I still am, really, until Tuesday, August 2, but a bit more freetime, now that Theatrix classes are done.

So what have I been doing?

-Working at Theatrix
-Rehearsing/Performing Annie Get Your Gun
-Voice Lessons on Mondays
-Working at the library
-Took a trip to Chicago with Cameron
-Spending as much freetime with Cameron as possible
-Ignoring the need for sleep
-Getting a new phone (same number, don't worry)
-Buying various things for school this fall
-Helping Larissa with getting off-book and finding costumes
-Making neat-o posters for the lobby for during Grease

Yeah... that's about it.  It doesn't sound like a lot, but boy, it sure did take up a lot of time.

This week is a little less hectic.

Yesterday, Cameron and I hung out... well, actually he napped while I made Theatrix posters and Lara and Britni made cookies.  Then I went to the park around 6 and ate my Lunch-able while waiting for everyone to show up.  We were all lazy and didn't get ready until about 7, 7:15.  The show was at 8 and it went quite well!  Afterwards, Cameron, Nate, Heather, Ed, Jess and I went to Perkins, which was very enjoyable.  I took Cameron home around 12:30 and then I went home and slept!

Today, I slept in, went to work (which is where I am now), after which I will be grabbing a quick dinner somewhere and then heading to the park for tonight's show.  Best of luck to all the Theatrix kids performing tonight!!

Tomorrow, I get to sleep in again (yay!) and then I don't have anything to do until call at 6:30 p.m.  Someone should call me to hang out, or go to lunch, or something!

Saturday, I'm going to see the afternoon class' matinee performance of Grease before going to the park for call at 6:30.  I think there's another cast party at Kathy's afterwards, but I could be wrong.

Sunday, again, I'm going to see Grease (morning class this time) and then my show is at 7 p.m. - closing night!  I really hope some of the Theatrix peoples will come see it, but if not... eh, oh well!

Then on Monday night, I have the Theatrix banquet and after that, I have nothing left to do this summer except for working 12-4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Library.  So, people should DEFINATELY call me and make plans because I want to spend time with everyone before I go away to Stevens Point.

I've learned a few things this the past few weeks, a few important things.

Firstly, if a director picks on you and gives you notes, it isn't because he or she hates you.  It's because he or she knows that you are capable of doing more than you are currently doing and wants you to give the best performance possible.

Secondly, if someone is bringing you down, tell them so.  It is your responsibility as a human being to look out for yourself.  This does not make you selfish.  Self-preservation is not selfishness.

Lastly, I have learned that the most important thing in the world is faith.  I don't necessarily mean faith in a deity or a religion.  I'm talking about faith in others and faith in yourself.  One thing that Theatrix truly did teach me is that you should always believe that a person is capable of doing something unless they have proved that they can't.  If you believe a person can't do something and you tell them so, then of course, they will never be able to.  Also, if you don't believe that you are capable of doing something, unless you can convince yourself otherwise, you'll never be able to do it.

I have so much faith in the kids in the current Theatrix cast of Grease and they have proved to me that my faith in them is well-founded over and over again in the past week and a half.  I'm very very proud of them and I know that they all have the ability to go very far in life.  I wish them all the best of luck in the show this week and in all their future endeavors.

Well, that's all for now.  Ciao!
